I really enjoyed Gone with the Wind.
I also heard 12 Angry Men is really good, but I've never seen it.

OP here, I've gone through all of Alfred Hitchkock's movies already, a few years ago. They are indeed grand. I like Cary Grant's movies as well.
I basically enjoy only oldies. So I've already seen most of the classics, such as My Fair Lady, Casablanca, etc. I also enjoyed the series of The Thin Man.
But 'Witness for the Prosecution' takes the cake!
I'm recuperating from a surgery so keep those good ole ones coming...
Thanks!

I had surgery this past summer and my brother got me a boxed DVD set of the 1st season of I Love Lucy. This was "just what the doctor ordered" its clean, funny and also in 1/2 hour episodes. Sometimes that's all I want to watch.
I liked it so much that my husband has gone on to get the next 2 seasons sets for me.
Lucy never ceases to amaze me - that woman was SO talented. Even though I saw all these episodes a dozen times on TV reruns as a child, I enjoy them again now. Also, the history of the show and its times is documented on these DVDs and its so interesting. Her pregnancy with Desi Arnaz jr. while acting on TV was terribly controversial (gotta love the 50's). CBS censors nearly kicked her off the air for having a pregnant
tummy while working on TV.
I highly recommend it.

This is absolutely the funniest movie I have ever seen - you will LOVE it! Do yourself a huuuuge favor, I'm begging you, and rent it!!! We've rented it so many times we decided to just buy it already to save money My family quotes it daily in numerous ways. YOU WILL LOVE IT! Okay, I'm a bit over the top with this but it's justified!!! See for yourself. Hey, I should make a comission. 'cept they're all dead. It's a 40's movie.

I agree with Purplegirl. Arsenic and Old Lace.
If you like musicals, the Music Man. The remake was also good.
The Rear Window? The Bedroom Window? Someone help me out.
Meet Me in St. Louis
I'm admitting to dweebiness, but I loved the Incredible Journey. I know it is for kids, but still I cry at the end!

I LOVE the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice (not the new hollywood one that just came out this year). My mother and I can watch it a million times.

I loved those.
The A & E production of Pride and Prejudice was good.
Mrs Miniver, Rebbeca, most musicals like Oklahoma, The Music Man, most old ones are good although some of the acting is a bit over the top.

aha
ok I'm in the middle of watching it.
I have my doubts whether its "kosher", but I'll have to see to the end.
so if all I need to do is think of what I want then I'll get it then how come every month when I think, "I'm feeling something I must be pregnant" I'm not.
or how come when I buy a lottery ticket, thinking of what I'm going to do with the money I win, I win nill?
also does G-d have a say?

We rented "Night at the Museum" last night. Clean. Cute. Clever and really funny. PG. Could be scary to little kids, though. I highly recommend.

The Pursuit of Happyness, other than a few words scattered throughout and one short scene at the beginning of the movie when they are getting dressed in the morning, the movie is the cleanest one I've seen in a really long time.

I'm waiting in line for that at the library ... can't wait to see it!!! probably because the depiction is in a year where scenes on tv were a lot cleaner ... more conservative life style ...
