I am doing market research on an exciting venture that would combine life and career training with Judaic studies.

The concept is a residential programme that would qualify students to become Red Seal Chefs in a kosher and Torah Observant environment.

At the moment, the thoughts are around seminary type programmes, and programmes for couples who are finished with Kollel and need to start getting qualified for life and career. Possibilities could also include a Kollel parallel programme.

I am interested in answers from people the world over.

Please help by filling out the survey at the link below and please pass it on to others who you feel could be interested in answering the survey.

Also please comment here when you have done so or if you have any questions or further comments not covered in the survey. The school would be under hashgacha of a major hashgacha organization.

Do you want responses only from people who would be interested in such a program? (I haven't seen the survey yet, wondering if I should fill it out or not.)

actually, your input regardless of interest is appreciated. even if it is not for you, your thoughts on whether it is a good idea would be fine. there is an area for answers on the last question

Just did the survey. It's such a great idea. My husband is such a great cook, he would benefit immensely from a program like this, especially since he's been in kollel the past few years and is looking at career/work options.

Thank you! We are very excited about this prospect and hopefully this is the first step to convincing a partner who is in the right position to work with us on it to participate!

It's a very interesting idea, but a few thoughts...

Firstly what is Red Seal chef?
How long will the programme last? (which determines the costs)

Considering it's a vocational course, where do you forsee graduates working? Would there be enough kosher restaurants/hotel/catering companies? Would graduate be considered for mashgichim (though wouldn't that usually require a smicha?) If I'm sending DH or DC, I would be keen to find out job prospect.

How would it be feasible to do programme on line, assuming cooking bit is rather hands-on?
How advanced/demanding Judaic Studies part be?

Is the course only for men? Separate men and women track?
