When I was single, it cost me $100 (or I found friends to do it and it was free).
Last year, the guy charged us $100 as well, but I think it should have cost more.
This year DH is going to do it.

it depends how complicated your taxes are.
we buy a program, Turbo Tax or H&R Block, for about $35 and it does the job!

turbo tax is great as long as your return isn't complicated.
Once you have more than one state and properties that sold, not to mention selling of stocks...... could be easier to just send to a CPA.

My accountant charges me 200. However, my husband and I have two different accountants so...we pay twice.

We pay whatever Turbo Tax costs. The first year after we were married, my father showed DH how to do it & he's done it ever since, gets a lot of $$ back from the IRS & saves himself a lot of $$ too.

for those of you that used Turbotax, is it fairly simple, or you actually have to have a fair knowledge about taxes? Is it self explanatory? I'm thinking of using it for next year.
