4 potatoes cut in cubes
2 onions, cut up
6 cloves of garlic
1 cup barley
1 cup beans
1 cup wheat kernels (my own addition but not necessary)
cholent meat (I use a Blade chuck steak) cut in cubes
4 squirts of ketchup
3 tbsp onion soup mix
2 squirts BBQ sauce
salt
pepper
garlic powder

Cover all ingredients with water and put on high for 2 hours, then turn low.

Depending on your tastes, you can add more meat or more potatoes.

2-4 potatoes, cut small
2 cans of kidney beans
1 large onion chopped coarsley
1 lb stewmeat
3/4 cup barley
onion soup mix
couple squirts of ketchup
garlic salt
paprika
little bit of red pepper
(I also put in some soul seasoning)

Dump the potatoes, beans, meat, onions, and barley into the pot. Pour in enough water so everything is just covered - no more. Add the spices and ketchup.

I cook mine on high from around 9am friday morning until shabbos starts and then put it on warm. Around 2pm I stir it.
Right before I put it on warm, I add some sliced hotdogs.

try my trick which makes it a GREAT cholent:
put into your cholent, (while putting all the raw ingredients in) kishka cubes.

buy kishka- and let it defrost a little bit, and cut it into cubes. for a 5 qt- only need half a kishka at a time.

REALLY, really good.
