I am leaning towards a range top but the extra cost is making me hesitate. My children are older so the knobs on the front are not a concern. Please help talk me into buying a range top instead of a cook top.

A range top is better for cooking but it is pricier. It can simmer lower so it can serve as a good warmer. It also has more BTUs and heats water FAST. It is professional quality. I am having issues justifying the cost.

The knobs are in the front and you have more room. It also has a more substantial look IMO and fits in an upscale kitchen better than a cook top.

If you are going to enjoy it soooo much and can afford it - it is not the end of the world to indulge and pamper yourself once in a while. This is something you use every single day for many many years before you replace it. For the price of getting a starbucks coffee twice a month over the lifetime of the appliance you will smile every time you cook.
