How do you say mean things on imamother?

I'm fairly new here but I've been surprised how many um, mean sounding posts I've seen here and no moderators to get rid of the pots. I'm just used to a more moderated board I guess.

just bc they dont know what your face looks like or your address, when you respond to what someone said in a mean way... youre being mean. not my style.

if you met your friends friend over the phone, would you be allowed to say whatever you wanted just bc you dont really know them? obviously not bc you may hurt their feelings and you may embarrass them.

Looking at many previous polls I have a feeling that memebers here are not so "crazy" about polls.I dont' know why.

I agree people shouldn't be mean ... but what happens when they are ... you want to lash back ... retaliate ... defend ... this is my motto in general - "I'm nice ... till I'm not" usually that means s/o wasn't nice to me first and at that point my defenses are taking over

don't forget that not everyone thinks what they say is mean . . things that would sound perfectly fine with your own voice and inflection can come across very harsh when typed.

I'm on pretty regularly. I haven't come across any mean posts for a long time ( a while back I did). W/o mentioning poster name, can you please give an example of what you consider mean.

Wow!It's so true like that famous story.BTW-so many times here I post something and while Im typing it I hear my voice saying it in a pleasant or funny voice but some members hear it differently.

this one time in band camp ... I mean when I had to call a plumber ... after he looked at situation I asked him if he knew what he was doing ... he packed up his stuff and left ... I really meant does he know what he is going to do yet ... like what is the problem ... I called his boss and apologized ... the plus was that I fixed it myself ...
