I bought DH 3 new cotton polo sweaters. He wore one to work and I noticed his shirt was COVERED in black fuzz. He tried the navy one this morning and it was the same problem. They are a heavy cotton.

What can I do to fix the problem? Will simply washing them fix it? Thanks in advance. Neither of us are too domesticated.
