I googled my name and was horrified to see my name on every sight I had ever googled! Then I get this pop-up that says if I download that particular software it will clean my name from all those sites.
Help! What does all this mean? And how do I erase my name from all over?

sounds weird.....
If I google my name, I'd only find it where I've listed it in full - like onlysimchas, etc.
It shouldn't come up on sites you've googled! Sounds pretty fishy.......
Do you get lots of pop-ups? Do you have anti-virus software? I would suggest you take care of that first, scan and clean your computer and then try again. It might be some sort of adware hoax or whatever.

spyware - that's what I meant. Smile

adware removes spyware, I think.

The pop-up is from 'DriveCleaner' They are advising me to download their software and run it so that my computer gets cleaned up. I have downloaded it, but have not yet run it. I am scared to. What would happen if I did run it? And how else to get rid of my name being all over the place?

I just googled DriveCleaner...so far I got this info:

DriveCleaner is a misleading application, which gives exaggerated reports of security and privacy risks on a computer. The program then prompts the user to purchase a registered version of the software in order to remove the reported risks.

I downloaded it but did not run it, cuz bells went off in my mind... I was suspicious....I just un-installed it. But what can I do about having my name all over the place?

I recenly read in a medical journal, that it is good to GOOLE your name
if you are a professinal and see what comes up.
the article says it is a good idea to post things about your self
so if your first to post it - it will show on the to ten things google posts.
