DH and I are at odds with the thermo temp. I set it at 73, he thinks it should be at 78!!! Very curious to see the responses. If possible, please post your general location, ie, south, northeast etc...Thanks

We live in Miami. When we first moved here we had it at 71 year round. We gradually crept it up, now we are at 74 year round, I would make it 75, I'm always freezing, but DH sweats if it goes any higher.

When we lived in the Tri-State area, we kept it at 68-70 in the winter, 73-74 in the summer

We have central AC that cools the house prettty well so 77 degrees is nice and cold. Of course, I am always colder than DH, so we end up somewhere between 77 and 80...

just adding that thermostats vary so much from place to place...in my old apartment, it was always hot, no matter how low I set the thermostat. where I live now, the layout of the house allows better air circulation so the AC is more efficient.

I'd prefer 68, but sometimes defer to dh who will be happy with 70. I think the one who has to wear long sleeves and a sheitel and spends the greater part of the day in the kitchen should have more say.

I use a fan on hot days and on unbearable days I have an ac in the living room ... but there has to be a heat wave for using it ...

cannot figure out after a long cold winter why one would want to refrigerate themselves ... prefer air - real air ...

oy, Farenheit…. I turn the air conditionate on above 26/27 Celsius. 80/82 Farenheit according to dh. As for winter, about 75.
My dh is less bothered by heat than I am, which is weird since he is a lot more covered than I am (tzitzis, undershirt and shirt with long sleeves even in winter shock). I do not know how he does it in the summer, in Israel…. I would bcome crazy.

We don't have a thermostat. They don't beleive in them in israel.
When its cold we turn on the heat. When its hot we open the windows and if that doesn't work, we turn on a fan.

Converting Celsius to Fahrenheit:
multiply by 9
divide by 5
add 32

We keep ours on 25-26 (77-79), but we don't use it very often.

All places I've been to in israel don't have either central heating or central air conditioning. Maybe I just was at the wrong places.

I don't know how you do it. Some of you ladies don't make sense to me. Yo keep your homes warmer in the summer that the winter? 70 deg in the winter and 77-78 deg in the summer? Seems odd to me.

I've never been to anywhere with actual air conditioning with temperatures listed on them. Wink

Why does cooling your house off in the summer even more than in the winter make sense to you?
In the winter you're dressed warmer and your body adjusts itself to the temperature, so you need it to be only relatively warm and in the summer you need it to be relatively cool, taking into consideration the clothes you're wearing and the blankets you're using.
Think again.

Maybe it is me, If the temp outside reaches 80 or thereabouts that is when I put on the airconditioner to cool things down. I prefer temps in the upper 60's or very low 70's

What doesn't make sense?
When the temp is low in the winter you keep your home at a lower temp, when it is a higher temp, you keep your home at a higher temp.
There is less adjustment between the indoors and outdoors and you spend less on heating and air conditioning.

Like I said to me 70 is the ideal temp. Keep the house that way all year.

We usually keep the temp at 72 during the summer. If it was set to 80 or 76 I wouldn't be able to take it, that's very hot.

we keep it at 70. Any lower and we'd go broke. I think our electricity bill doubles in the summer due to air conditioning.
