glad to hear the situation is improved. May the new year bring simchas, health, happiness and parnasa for you and all Klal Yisrael.

sarahd, just a brief note to let you know that interest is assur min hatorah but there are exceptions to the rule I.e. heter iska.

But a gemach is not going to get a heter iska and charge interest. Besides, a heter iska is not such a simple thing either (according to an article that appeared a few weeks ago in Hamodia.) Anyhow, interest is assur and a heter iska is a way of changing a loan into a business deal so instead of paying interest, the "lending" party receives "profit" from the deal. Interest may still not be paid, get what I mean?

Jewishmama very happy for you that your husband finished his course/degree, I totally understand how you felt as my husband finishes this year but then does another degree for another 2 years...so I shall feel very relieved when it ends...and then I can do Uni.

don´t give up hope and try not to stress out too much.
have faith and HASHEM will send u the money u need when u need it.
there were some days when our balance was 0 and yom tov was coming up. it amazed me how many invites we got or our local kosher store would call me to tell me s/one had given us money for food.
The good thing about Gibraltar is that everyone helps everyone out.
for example, we don´t have a sukkah and I´m already booked thru half of sukkot!
at the end of the day it is all worth it especially the wage they get at the end!
