I want to give s/t perishable in my MM. It's just one of the things, but it adds a lot. What should I do if the person doesn't answer the door? Should I leave it by the door anyway and hope they'll see it soon or should I take the perishable thing out and give it w/o it, if the person doesn't answer?

In this sort of weather that shouldn't be a problem 😉

Pretty much everyone I know who sends perishables are the people who stay home most of the day and others come to them and they exchange. For teachers they go out, but during their hours, so they're home.
It may depend just how perishable it is and what the weather is.

Everything I send is meant to be consumed within a month ...

I'm not in the Southern Hemisphere, but Purim is generally warm.
