Are you looking at the following site

https://www.osc.state.ny.us/ouf/

It’s legitimate.

It’s legitimate.

I received a letter from them first then went online and claimed the funds. It came in about three weeks. This was a few months ago.

I see a few family members but when they try to claim it, it looks suspicious which cell phone provider they use? Why do they need that info?

If you are using https://www.osc.state.ny.us/ouf/ this is a legitimate government website.

If they are asking about cell phone provider they are using that to match against information about you that is already accessible to them (via credit report).

It's possible the money is a refund from their cell phone provider. Double check with 311 that you're using the state website and not a sham site.

It could take up to 4 months until they gather all necessary paperwork to authorize, but you'll get it iy'h. Make sure to follow up your claim by searching your claim # to see if they need any paperwork from you. Very often you will need to mail in a notarized form to confirm your identity

Updating that I got a letter with the amount...drum roll...sum total of $231.44...from a medical insurance company we used way back when.

I have unclaimed funds but for some reason, after I put in all my info, the site said I cannot claim these funds online; I need to send in a mail-in form. I can't be bothered.

Appreciate the reminder as I did this a long time ago. Just re-checked and found I had a $50 check from a medical bill. Awesome!

Is this for sure legitimate? Bec it’s asking for my social. I understand why but I don’t want to give it unless it’s for sure.

I can say yes. I received funds a few months ago after providing my SS#. Similar to groisemama , it was a refund from an insurance company.

Yes. I made sure it was a government site before I put my social security number in.
