I have seen many Christians are 1000% against it, and I'm wondering if anyone here has read it and has any perspective on it.

I just finished it and while it did bug me that G-d wasn't mentioned and it was called "The Universe" a lot, there is a very important message in the book. However, I'm wondering if the "non/less intelligent" should be steered clear of it, because its not so focused on the fact that Hashem runs the world, and it makes you feel as if you have all the power.

I was on another board before the book came out. Basically all this stuff is garbage imho. In the long run it makes us less caring; they couldn't believe, so they didn't get so they must not have deserved. It won't help to give, because they would just lose it anyway, because they don't believe.

Was this book also made into a movie? Someone was really trying to convince me yesterday that if I watch the movie and I guess do what it says all of my problems will disappear and change my life. I have no idea what "The Secret" is but wouldn't strengthening my emunah work better?

Yes, its a DVD. And yes, strengthening your emunah would work, too. This does help with HOW to do it, if you can remember that their refernce to "The Universe" is HASHEM and He's the one in charge, but the idea of The Secret, very basically, is to teach you to use positive thinking!

The point of "The Secret" is that if you surround yourself with positive thoughts, positive people, positive conditions that you will get what you want.

Strengthening your emunah does not mean you believe that you will get what you want, but that you will appreciate what you recieve. There is a great deal of difference between the two.

I read the book and watched the DVD twice plus alot of related books such as "Excuse me your life is waiting" by Lynn Grabhorn. They ascribe more to focus on the good in your life and how you would feel if you could/did accomplish the things you want to as a means of bringing those things into your life by being open to them and the accompanying energy.

The reason they don't mention the word G-d is that the christian version of G-d is warped and that's what most people associate with the word. They do say though that if you ask a philosopher or a scientist, they will tell you that this force is all powerful, timeless, allways was, is personal... sounds pretty much like the Jewish description of G-d. The Rebbes motto was "Think good and it will be good" This is pretty much what they are teaching. King david used to exalt in praises of G-d's salvation might and goodness while in the midst of a crisis. Miracles always came his way. Griping and awfulizing and loshon hora are not Jewish qualities for a reason. They bring more of the same.

I think its a sign of moshiach tseit that your average non jew is getting a better idea of what g-d really is.
