frankfuters, popcorn, nuts, are all too hard for a toddler to chew and if not properly chewed can be a choking hazard for them ... so no ...

from a choking standpoint hotdogs are accepatable IF YOU CUT THEM IN QUARTERS AFTER SLICING. The issue is that the round slice is big enough to get caught ch"v in the windpipe. Ditto for grapes, bananas, fat pretzels, in short, anything of the right size that's harder than jello.

From a health standpoint--well, hotdogs, even chicken hotdogs, are not exactly health food. They are high in fat, saturated fat and salt, and also contain nitrites, which have been implicated in causing certain cancers. Your children will eventually be exposed to them, but I would try to put off that evil day as long as possible.

If you must give them hotdogs for some reason, go with soy dogs. they're astronomical in sodium, but no nitrites.

Wises (the organic kosher brand) makes them without sodium nitrate, just not sure what is in there in the seasonings dept, some unhealthy things are allowed to be included in there. And plz do quarter them, it is such a choking hazard.

Yes, slice and quarter hot dogs to avoid choking hazards.
I think that if you serve them once in a while, the sodium shoulnd't be a problem.
