DH and I are looking to get away for a few days. We want somewhere driving distance from NYC, has good kosher food/restaurants, Minyan for DH, nice nature. Nature is our type of attractions (not the touring type)
All suggestions welcome!
Thanks

What do you consider driving distance? And do you care what the temperature is to enjoy nature? Unfortunately to get a minyan and kosher restaurants restricts you to big urban cities and large Jewish communities, which generally don't go together with beautiful nature.

You could try to find a group that's going skiing this time of year and will be making its own minyan in Vermont. Check temporary minyans on godaven.com.

Otherwise, you could try a place like Scranton, which is near the Poconos, but I don't think it has restaurants. You could go to Monsey and use it as a base for the Catskills. Or go to a place like Philly, Boston, or Baltimore, and try to find pretty parks in the area.

Willing to drive up to 5 hrs.
After re-evaluating, I think we will take food with us so we don't need a place with kosher food. Nature and relaxing is important, and a minyan.

you can base yourself in Newport RI.

most likely minyan at Touro synagogue.

nice inns and hotels can be really cheap this time of year.

Hikes and nature preserves to visit in the area. can do a day trip to cape cod

The problem with these suggestions is there's no year-round minyan in Lake George (only in the summer), a cabin in the Poconos will be a long drive to minyan, and even Newport, you should call to see if their weekday minyan is reliable, because in our experience many years ago, it was highly dependent on tourists.

Maybe look into Ithaca, which should have a minyan through Cornell Hillel or Chabad, and could be a nice base to explore the Finger Lakes region.

When are you looking to go, and do you need a minyan? If you're going before the summer and need a minyan, I believe the only option is near Scranton. If you don't need a minyan, then you can stay anywhere. Do you want a hotel or a private condo? How long are you planning to go for, and are you staying over Shabbos? What type of activities are you looking to do?

Mostly winter sports - Skiing, snow tubing, ice skating, snow mobiling, etc. There's also a casino in the area. For more activity options see here:

There are supposed to be a few romantic adults-only hotels there called Cove Haven that also have many of their own activities. They've been discussed on imamother, though I've never stayed at them.
