I work full time, so here are some recipes I make in the crock pot:
Chicken and Potatoes:
Peel and cube a few potatoes
cut up a few stalks of celery
cut up a few carrots
you can also add a can of sliced mushrooms
put all the above in the bottom of the crock pot
place chicken on top
sprinkle with spices (onion and garlic powder, black pepper, salt and paprika)
drizzle on some honey
add some onion soup mix
cover with water
let cook the entire day, the more the merrier!!
variation: you can do the same recipe above with cubed meat instead of chicken.
Meatballs & Potatoes
Take 1lb ground meat
add one egg
add spices
if needed add bread crumbs for consistency
mix the above together and form into balls
place two cans of tomato sauce in the crock pot
add the meatballs
add some sliced potatoes
enjoy!!

Yup, you got it, cooks the entire day. Then when you get home it smells and tastes yummy.
Since there is alot of water in it, it doesn't cook out.

there were a couple of times I made stuff in the crock pot and my mother, babysitting for me, thought the wonderful smell was coming from my neighbors. I haven't done it too often, but it IS a good idea.
My crock pot came with a recipe book so if there's seomthing specific you're looking for, I can check it up.
You can make meatballs.
Also, meatloaf.
You can get pickled mock tender...put in with onions, celery, squash or sweet potato, carrots, etc... Also good for a Shabbos meal change.

I got a cookbook called, "Fix it and forget it--lightly;" it's all crockpot recipes, and all the ones we've tried so far have been winners. They're easy, made with regular ingredients, and low fat. There are "European" (like goulash) as well as Asian-style and just what I'd consider American-style ideas, so it's not all meat-and-bean stews.

I've made lentil soup on the crockpot, and just let it cook through out the day. It was great to come home to something warm, and yummy!

Here's one my husband really likes:
Provencale Chicken Supper
4 chicken breast halves (skinned)
2 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp salt, divided
1/4 tsp pepper, divided
1 cup diced yellow pepper
1 16 oz can navy beans, rinsed and drained
1 14 oz can chunky tomatoes
Fresh basil leaves for garnish
1. Place chicken in slow cooker, sprinkle with dried basil, half of the salt and half of the pepper.
2. Combine remaining salt, pepper, bell peppers, beans and tomatoes in a bowl and mix well. Spoon over chicken. Cover with lid and cook on high for an hour and low for 5 hours.
You can also make it with different chicken pieces if desired. If leaving it all day, use frozen chicken and cook on low for 8 - 10 hours.

It was a while back that I made the lentil soup. I think that I got the recipe from the purple cookbook. It was just a regular lentil soup recipe that I made in the crockpot.
