If your cleaning lady or nanny doesn't drive, do you pay for her taxi or expect her to find her way to work on public transport, walking etc.?
Just trying to get an idea of the norm in New York, esp. Brooklyn and Monsey.

I pay my cleaning lady approx 6 dollars extra to cover her subway costs. I don't have to pay for a taxi. I know she comes by train.

In Brooklyn most agencies will require you to tack on round-trip train/bus fare to the cost of the actual cleaning.

I was told need to pay her for her commute by bus. I have to pay her bus fare even if she walks. I think that's completely insane. But its not worth it for me to lose her over these $6 so I just pay it and shut my mouth.

when I lived in bklyn she took 2 trains to get to me so I payed her way. now that I live in lakewood I pick her up and take her home. its totally worth it being the crazy situation here with cleaning ladies

My Brooklyn cleaner pays her own trasnportation, I pay her for the hours she is working by me.
