My male and female parrotlets have been acting kind of frisky lately, so I attached a nestbox to their cage. They've been VERY interested in the nestbox! Hopefully I'll soon have updates on some fertile eggs!!!

Oh my gosh, so cute!

Where I live, there is an ENORMOUS flock of wild green parrots who come to our date palms. They are so sassy and fun to watch. There are a couple of escaped macaws that have integrated into the flock. I just love them.

Thanks! These guys are the worlds smallest domesticated parrots, also known as pocket parrots. Here's a picture of the babies I have now. They're about 3 months old, and oh so cuddly.

Awww. So cute. Do you keep all the babies?

Do you have to do any extra work to take care of babies or do the parents take care of them?

I hand feed all my babies, which is why they are so friendly and cuddly. It's a lot of work, but I enjoy it Very Happy I sell some of the babies, and keep some. They usually have around 5 babies in a clutch, so if I kept all of them, my house would look, and smell like an aviary LOL

Here's a picture of the other parents. Notice how the male is missing some feathers on his head. The female plucks him all day long. He's looking like an old man lately.

Thanks! These guys are much smaller than cockatiels, but they act like they're macaws. They also produce a lot less dander than them, so they're a good choice for allergies. They're quite easy to care for. Although, with this particular breed, they tend to take lots of baths, so their water needs frequent changing. They get seeds and pellets and fresh fruit and veggies. I use the old school computer paper as their bedding. I change it either every day or every other day, depending on how messy they've been that day. They're not very good about making their own nests, so I use paper that I put in the shredder and have it all ready for them to lay eggs. The yellow pair have been in and out of the box all day! Cheers Hooray Hooray

Do you want the recipe? What types of birds do you have? Don't let them live on matza all pesach, all that wheat isn't very healthy for them.
