I have a deck and pool in the backyard.
Half of the deck is adjacent to the pool area and basically "overhangs" the pool area.
The rest of the pool area is enclosed with a 6' fence.
The railing on the deck is 42", which is easy to climb/fall over and land in the pool area.
Deck is raised off the ground, so sticking more 6' fencing into the ground below the deck wouldn't help: it would maybe reach the top of existing railing.
Deck/railing people advised me that over 42" is out of railing department, as it would be considered fencing.
What could I put there to have a higher separation between the overhanging deck and the pool area?
Thank you!

Is an electric cover a possibility?

What's that?? Barbed wire at the top of railing ?
ETA: I've just googled it. Thank you for suggestion - I've never seen anything like that before.
Something worth looking into.
Do you know if it's attached on all sides when closed, or could someone fall through if they climb on top of the cover?

Can you redesign the deck so it is not a safety hazard? Bring it back? But yes an electric cover and more protection is needed. I doubt that any of it will come cheap.
