My neighbor's Naftali is called Tully.
I personally love the name Naftali just the way it is.

My grandfather's name was Naphtaly. His nieces and nephews called him Uncle Nat.

I have a few cousins nicknamed "Talli" (same pronunciation and the nickname for Talia.) I personally like Naftali better.

I have a Naftali, we often use the full name, but also like Tully. We took the full 8 days to the pick the name, but he's now 2 and we really love it.

I also agree nick names sounding worse and I think it is a nice name!
Nifty, Naf, Nat, Nate, Natie (used more for Netanel) Tulli, Talli, Tolli....heard of all these....
I think most Naftali nick names are because a younger sibling couldn't pronounce it...

In R' Lau's autobiography, he says that he called his broth Naftali "Tulek", if you like the Polish way of nicknaming

I have an uncle tully and my husband has a friend nafi. I personally think that no nickname for naftoli is as nice as actual name.

Use the beautiful name and you'll get used to it pretty quickly.
I always feel that no name seems right and I have a hard time for the first day or two.
