A relative is going on 6th date this week. He refused to do lounges, so they went into fun dates right away. They don't like eating out as an activity - though they go at night so they do that too. They've been on really long dates and used up a lot already.

So far they went to:
Arcades
Bowling
Sporting event
Coffee
Ice cream
Game place
Ripleys
Pottery

Any ideas? It can be up to about an hour away from Brooklyn.

Is Build-a-Bear in Staten Island too far away?

One of my DDs was taken to Build-a-Bear for a date, and we thought it was cute and unique. Everybody else in the family was ready to marry him, but DD stubbornly insisted that she should want to marry him -- not us.

If there's a seventh, bring a bunch of fun quick board games and card games. They could be played in lobbylike places when it's cold out. And it's free!
You could add that before each turn to say something personal or ask a question.

They did that already... they're going to go to a mall if there is a next time, this date is a weeknight, late.

I'm sorry this won't help you now but here is an idea in case you need ideas for other dates.

The circus!!! We were already engaged but we went to see the circus and I love the way my Then bochur react to it! It made me know even more he's my beshert! It was a circus with no elephants or tigers because he is against that kind, it was acrobats and dogs and trappeez, funny clowns and silly amazing things! Yes some costume was not tznius but it was ok because we know we want to see trappeeze and it can't be in a skirt and trousers.

My daughter just went yesterday to the New York Historical Society museum. Its on W 79th street in Manhattan. Right now they have two good (and "Kosher')exhibits -- one on the first Jews to come to America and one on antique toys. My daughter had a good time and so did the young man. Her beau doesn't have a car. If your young man does, there is an amazing train show at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx every year. They reconstruct all of the famous NYC buildings and the train runs through them. It's really gorgeous.

I loved doing stray boots -- such a fun and interesting date activity. There are some indoor ones for cold weather.

I agree that build a bear is a bit childish, but it sounds like he is absolutely refusing a lot of things..

I wouldn't have wanted childish things but beware the circus. Nowadays the costumes are more than untznius (sometimes)
