I've never made Pesach myself before-- we'll be away for first YT days but home for chol hamoed and last days. Looking for advice/a list of what kitchen items are essential.

It depends on what type of food you will be cooking. I could not live without my immersion blender because we love pureed soups. I also use my food processor a lot on Pesach - riced cauliflower, minced onions for tons of recipes, etc.
You can live without dishes, silverware and even bakeware and use disposables.
How many people are you? That will determine sizes of pots you will need.
Will you be hosting?
At the very least I would say a few pots and pans, some utensils for cooking (mixing spoons, measuring spoons), a really good knife, cutting board, peeler, plata (if you usually one), oven mitts.
I use the same towels and tablecloths as all year round - they are always washed and clean.
Basically whatever you use all year round, but don't go overboard.
Think about what you will be cooking and work backwards from there. How much dairy vs meat?
For example, I make a lot of dairy matza brei and pancakes so I need separate dairy prep bowls and utensils and frying pan.
Good luck!

You are sure to realize over YT that you overlooked something (for me it was a grapefruit knife). I recommend buying the item right away after YT and putting it away with your Pesach things rather than trying to remember for some future shopping trip...you will appreciate it next year!
