Random question:
What age range is 18-24 mnth playgroup set up for? Anyone know? Do u generally have to be 18 mnths to start? If so, does that mean 15/16 mnth olds can't sign up?
And if you're 24 months wouldn't you go to 2 year old playgroup?
It seems like such a specific age range. I wonder why it isn't more like 14-24 months or 12-22 months. Anyone who would like to weigh in on this is welcome.

I haven't heard of sending a child to playgroup before 18 months. Playgroup is usually a toddler group with a structured day. I can't imagine a 12 month old (who may not even be walking) participating.

18 month olds can usually walk, talk a little, understand directions, and enjoy more activities. It's an age where they've hit a lot of these developmental milestones enabling them to keep up in a small playgroup setting. They're also not so drastically different than 24 month olds so they work well together.
A 14 month old and a 24 month old are at completely different levels in every way and need totally different kinds of care. It's possible to do it of course, but those ages aren't usually purposely put together.

Not the same thing but my baby's daycare (very established company. Not a Bubbe in her house) has the classes separated as follows: 6 weeks to 12 months. 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years etc
18-24 months is definitely more 'grown up' than her 12-18 months. More structured play, kids assist in clean up, more arts and crafts, and everyone is walking.
Makes sense to me

I like that set-up Pesek Zman! For some reason, in my area, I never hear about 12-18 month old playgroups. Maybe that's what bothers me. My kids need to socialize from like 14/15 months or so.
And if you're working anyway... Definitely better to be in a social setting than with a bunch of babies.

My son is a November birthday so the 2 year old groups would not take him last year but some of the 18-24 month ones would.

Its usually kids who reach an age by a certain cut-off, much like schools. So your son was well withing 18-24 months, but didn't turn 2 until after the deadline.

I was thinking it's probably good for the autumn birthdays that are too young for 2 yr old playgroups.
Your son was one of the older ones or around same age as most kids there?
