What's the reason, source or any other info you have on dipping in the Mikva Erev YK?
How is it done? You got to do the whole shebang, but no one checks you? How many times do you dip?
I live in the shmaltz. Everyone around me does it, and yet I'm clueless.

Everyone is supposed to go to Mikva erev yk. Both men and women.
There is no prep required.
You dip twice. Once to get wet and once lekovod yk.

No washing
No preps
No checks
No mikvah attendant
Dip as many times as your minhag and go home

Thanks everyone for the information.
Here's my follow up questions
If u go the public Mikva, do they provide bathrobes?
If u go to the your "neighbors cousins" Mikva in their home, u bring it along? And what's proper etiquette if u do get informed of a private Mikva?
Anyone ever concerned about drowning if no one is there?

They don't provide robes they provide flat bed sheets to wrap yourself in. There is a long line of women standing in sheets or robes from at home waiting to dip one after another. My suggestion is to bring an easy zip up robe that you can wear while standing in line without anything underneath so you can dip and quickly get back dressed. Same suggestion if you were going to a public milkvah or in someone's house.
Is a mikvah that deep? It's about 3.5 feet maybe. Reminds me of a hot tub. At the mikvah there's a long line of women wiating outside pressuring you to hurry and they knock the door down if you're not fast enough. But if you're going to a private place it makes sense to take someone along to stand outside the door if you're worried.

Me neither. And it's supposedly a Hungarian thing. And I'm Hungarian.

This is a new one. Why in the world do you need to dip to get wet? Anytime you did you get wet! I think its like lighting shabos candles. All you need is one but yey most women light extra

My mother goes, yet I never did.
Mikva mitzvah is so overwhelming, I just can get there if I'm not commanded to.
I am doing something bad?
