For the last few days I have had several times when my touchpad (mouse) just didn't work.
It freezes for several minutes and then starts moving again without warning (like when I frantically try to move my finger back and forth.)
Googling only made me more confused and none of the suggestions helped.
It has really been affecting my productivity (and nerves )
My laptop is about 3 years old. Is it time to replace or something I can correct myself through a combination of keystrokes or other steps?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

I can't think of why that would be happening. But until you figure out if it's fixable or should be replaced, you can get an inexpensive USB mouse to plug into your laptop

I agree, get a USB mouse. I've had issues with the touchpad if my hands are slightly wet/cold- but that wouldn't have started all of the sudden. If you haven't restarted the computer in a while, that could help, too.
On a similar note, is there a way to disable the touchpad mouse? I hate when I/my kids hit it by mistake when I am trying to use the USB mouse.

I connected a USB mouse to be able to access and post on imamother.
I use this laptop usually when I have no flat surfaces nearby so a USB mouse gets a bit complicated to use.
Any other suggestions?
