I actually think the last quote is very inspirational. Kind of sums up my life right now. I’m going through a very difficult and challenging pregnancy loss and IF journey. It takes tremendous strength and courage for me to constantly smile and maintain an atmosphere of simcha in my home. But I try my best.

I think about this a lot Friday night, when I light candles. I usually end up crying when I’m lighting, as I think about the one I lost that I am not lighting a candle for. But then I say, Hashem, I am going to uncover my face and smile at my family, even if it’s fake. But please “vezakeinu lekabel Shabbosos mitoch rov simcha,” please grant me a yeshua and allow me to smile and welcome the Shabbos queen with true simcha, and not a broken heart.

Blue - YOU are inspirational. Your post is beautiful. I'm just going to bentch you that the light of the chanukah menorah will symbolize the light of the joy I daven you will one day have.

When you are on the express train through hell, pause for a moment to do something that you enjoy, surprisingly, you will find yourself actually enjoying the ride.

Please post inspirational quotes. I know we've had threads like this before but it's fun.

I'm going to log off now and read through the thread tomorrow.
But if you can use the word "fun", you're getting to a good place! Kol hakavod!

Some more:

Hope is the little voice you hear whisper "Maybe!" when it seems the entire world is shouting "No!"

Sometimes when you're in a dark place, you think you've been buried, but you've actually been planted.

It is not who you are that holds you back. It is who you think you are not.

If you're going through hell, keep going.
Youre a seed in the ground, you'll be growing.
Yes it is dark, not a walk in the park.
And soon-
The light through a crack will be showing :-)

I don't like this one. Facades are not inspirational.

No, they're not, and they not fully attainable. But it's something to remember. Rabbi Yisrael Salanter said to a talmid who was very very serious during the yemei ratzon that our faces are a reshus harabim and we should try to project simcha and pleasantness. (I'm sure it helps if that's what we're feeling.)

Shira Smiles speaks about this is this week's shiur on Vayigash. (Of course all this is on Yaakov Avinu's level, we are supposed to glean whatever we can.) 33 years were deducted from Yaakov's life because of his answer to Paroh's asking him how old he was, including the words of Paroh's question:
1. Because a tzadik should accept things with greater equanimity, and the tzaros of his life shouldn't have been worn on his face. To the degree that Paroh would even answer the question.
2. Another source doesn't go this far but says that while he gave Paroh an honest answer to his question, he should have included thanks and acknowledgement to Hashem for all the good in his life.
(If I'm not presenting this correctly it's on me, not Rebbetzin Smiles.)

Sometimes faking it till we make it (odom nifal kfi peulosav) is our avodah.

Please don't get me wrong. I totally validate what you're saying and even agree. But I also agree with the poster you're quoting and appreciate her heroism. I also think it's healthy for her to hear what you have to say.

Debsey, I read your second clarifying post. I think we all appreciate both sides.
And re what blue wrote, I second your post to blue, and will share this: so often when I daven, I daven to feel the words if I don't now, and even if I do, to let them permeate and get into my bones so I'll be able to keep going, through everything.

Yeshuas Hashem keheref ayin.
I find that gets me through a lot. And I have seen it to be true. Not always, if course, if it isn't meant to come quickly.

I have a pretty sign on my kitchen counter that says Baruch Hashem Yom Yom.

One day at a time... Even when its so hard. But there is always something to bless Hashem for.

Blue, wishing you nechama. I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing.

I like it! Sounds familiar. I could hang it up in my kitchen too... But there are so many great quotes on this thread, I would want them all!

A couple times I wrote kol haschalos kashos on a paper on the fridge. I find chazals to be so helpful.

Oh, and:
The only thing constant is change.
