A friend of mine put together a group for a Sholom bayis shiur. This woman charges $500 for 8 sessions. I heard nice things about her so I joined. The first of 8 was last night and I really did not enjoy it.it was very elementary and I couldn't relate to the speaker. Can I back out now and offer to pay for one class?
Wwyd? I don't feel like writing off $500.

Ask the speaker what her policy is.

Was there a minimum amount of people needed in order to have the course run? If yes then you made a commitment. If no then you can probably talk to your freind and come to some agreement.

500 is a lot for sholom bayis.
What's her refund policy?
They will keep your deposit or whatever but the portion you haven't paid yet is usually refundable so early in the game.

She took a cc from participants before the shiur started. A little much..I am usually not the naive type but if it is very good $500 isn't over the top for 8, 2 hr sessions.

Did you know in advance that there was a no refund policy?

Maybe if you find a replacement you can share the cost

Why don't you ask your friend who organised it?

I still don't know. I feel guilty asking. How do I call up and say I didn't like it?!
Maybe I can't white lie and say my schedule changed and I can't make it.
