I just came across someone with the name Hesed. I thought it was interesting that its not a commonly used name. We use Mazel, Bracha, Tova, etc but never Hesed. Its actually a kind of cool name.

I know Yarden is beautiful river in Israel, but it's also an Arab country, what can you do, that's what I think of first.

I agree with you, however you can’t compare the yarden with mitzrayim. The yarden is in gevul E”Y (not Israel) as well as the land beyond that. (Aiver hayarden - Reuben, gad, chatzi shevet menashe) So even though modern day Israel is adjacent to a country called Jordan, biblically speaking Jordan has no significance. While Lebanon, mitzrayim, and Syria do.

What do you mean by made-up? I mean Ayala is made up. It's an animal. It's just fairly well accepted as a name, so maybe it's not considered made-up.

Why do people want to give the name that means deer? I like ayala but want to know the meaning!

So far we've chosen names that are family names, not based on meaning. (Although I would be hesitant to use a family name with a meaning that I very much dislike.)

Because many boys names started from the shevet or tzaddik that it evoked. Naftali Tzvi, Aryeh Yehuda, Binyomin Zev, and then the names took off on their own by themselves and with the Yiddish.
So Tzvi could be named after a Naftali, or Ratz Katzvi, or evoking Eretz Yisrael Eretz Hatzvi.
