My challah just came out of the oven. Will it taste fresher if I freeze it now and take it out a few hours before shabbos or if I leave it on the counter untill shabbos?

I have wondered the same. I tend to play it safe and freeze.

Either way, I'm sure it will taste amazing, especially if you warm them up well.

Let it cool so you don't have condensation in the bag.

I make fresh on fridays and leave it on the counter. I rewarm in the oven to regain crispness for a few minutes before shabbes. The challa for shabbes morning I place in freezer and rewarm on bekele on blech.

The whole point of Challah having eggs and oil and sugar is so it can taste good the next day ( unless baguettes which get stale). I don’t understand why you would freeze it for one day

Either do I.

They "just came out of the oven" at midnight, so they won't be cool until 2 or 3 am. And Shabbat is 5 pm, so she'd need to take them out by about 2 pm.

The degradation in texture from freezing is much greater than the degradation in quality from being out for 12 hours.

I keep 1 out for Friday night meal and freeze 1 that will be for shabbos day meal. I find that if it sits out for more than 24 hours it just doesn't taste the same.

I'm not sure about Challah baked on Friday.
But our friend owns a bakery and has really delicious Challah and he told us it needs to be frozen and re-warmed for best results.
