- I volunteered with a group of women to divide up a shiva dinner for 12 tom night. We delegated all the food & I offerrrd to make tilapia. The store that usually has frozen tilapia fillets only had:
- frozen breaded precooked tilapia fillets &
- frozen raw sole fillets

I bought 8 of each thinking I’ll make 2 types of fish.

Any ideas? Nothing fancy as it’s for a shiva

If you have the frozen breaded tilapia from Dagim (it's not cooked), arrange on a cookie sheet. Dust with garlic powder and salt. Bake uncovered in oven preheated to 475 for about 13 minutes.

OP you can smear mayo and mustard on the fillets that are not breaded, bread with seasoned cornflakes crumbs and follow the baking instructions that RA mom provided . It will basically be the same as the prebreaded version

Arrange the sole fillets on a cookie sheet. Brush with oil and sprinkle with s&p. Bake uncovered in oven preheated to 400 for about 7 minutes. Drizzle with pesto and serve.
Or roll up the fillets and secure with a toothpick. Brush with oil and sprinkle with s&p. Bake uncovered in oven preheated to 400 for about 7 minutes. Serve over red pepper sauce or your favorite warm sauce and sprinkle with a bit of parsley.

Want to clarify this info: I bake this with frozen or defrosted breaded precooked fillets?

& when cooking unbreaded raw, I defrost first before cooking?

Am I too confusing?

Keep the breaded tilapia frozen and put directly on cookie sheet and into oven to bake
Defrost the sole fillets before seasoning and baking.

For the sole, mix 1/4-1/3 cup oil with lots of spices, I like paprika, garlic, pepper, salt, you can use fish seasoning from Pereg.
Let it marinate for 1 hr or more.

In the bottom of the pan slice tomatoes, and cover the bottom with tomatoes.
Spray them with oil (or not) , and put under the broiler until they carmelize a little bit.
Place fish on top, include all the oil.

OPTIONAL- slice some peppers the long way, strips, and a few carrot pieces sliced on an angle. 1/2 an onion sliced. And sprinkle on top of the fish. Also add a can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed. Sprinkle around. This makes it a complete meal

Tightly foil the fish and bake t 325 for about 40 minutes (check after 30)

Serve with rice, and crusty bread, and a good green salad.
