Please don’t read this poem out loud,
Or you’ll ruin our theme of which we’re so proud.

Queen Esther kept quiet about her nationality
So we chose that part of her personality,
To emulate as our theme this Purim day
As “SILENCE Is Golden”, or so they seem to say

Who keeps quiet all day and all night?
That people would recognize at first sight?
The answer we found is clearly a MIME
(It’s also a word that’s easy to rhyme).
So we got striped shirts in black and in white
With berets and facepaint, we’re really a sight.
[It’s also easier when we dress the same
As each ones costume we don’t need to name]

Next we needed food that is quiet to chew
No munching or crunching for me or for you.
Peanut butter is so sticky, it can glue your mouth shut
It will keep you noiseless-unless you’re allergic to the nut.
Marshmallows are so soft, they make nary a sound,
They’re a good racket free snack to keep around.
White bread is so soft and moreover sound free
So we gave you 2 slices-from National Bakery.
Put them all together for a tasty treat
As an inaudible snack, it can’t be beat.

A silent poem we considered sending out,
[That’s what the blank paper was all about]
But as we usually explain our theme by choice,
And we couldn’t do it using our voice,
We added this poem to help make it clear
And wish you a HAPPY PURIM-until next year.
