Kudos, OP- you deserve a medal...and hazard pay! That last bit about your nephew and the toybox definitely wins the gold for "complete and utter disregard" of common decency...let alone help. Hashem should pay you back for your chesed (your relatives seem to be the type to whom you need to give small stones, so when they throw them at you, it hurts less).
