Mommyg8 wrote: | Denim, you're the op, right? First you say that your dh read this on a un-named internet web site of bible critcism, and now you know all about "recent archeological findings"? Can you say this straight out - did you do research on this topic, or not? Are you REALLY asking imamothers if they know more about this, or is your point something different?
Because if you are REALLY someone with a degree in archeology, you should have stated that in your op. So that we can understand your question better. |
He started out reading online fairly casually, but then got worked up about this topic and read scientific studies on the topic. Both of us are well versed in research and understanding scientific writing.
I'm trying to help him, to see if I can help calm him down. For me, I am ok separating science and Torah, but he is having trouble since it seems so contradictory based on the archeology.

And what is your expertise?
According to dh there is consensus on this matter.

I feel the same way. I really hope he calms down and comes around.

so, you're turning to imamother to help you understand scientific writings? Do you mind at least posting a link to these research papers, so we can evaluate? I, too, have some experience in understanding research and scientific writing. Would love to help....

I know enough to know archeology is extremely imprecise and subjective, with lots of debate. If your dh doesn't think so, he either hasn't done enough research, or has already blindly accepted the atheist view of things without interest in critical thinking or other sources. In which case none of us can help you.
If you think science contradicts Torah, none of us can help you either.
