I'm thinking about attending a conference regarding my childs diagnosis which will be held on a shabbos.
they will have world renowned experts on this anomaly (which is quite rare).
Have you ever attended something like this on a shabbos? what are things to be aware of or ask shailas ahead of time?
(conf. will take place in a Manhattan hospital)

I've done this over the years. Manhattan should be relatively easy, I've gone to Scottsdale AZ , Idaho and other places. Our rav paskened we can attend all lectures, obviously we checked out electronic doors and electric bathrooms prior. We of course couldn't write notes but were able to collect informational handouts. Food was interesting as we were only kosher attendee and had to explain the need for refrigerator in room and not being able to participate in all workshops. It's doable! Scout out the lecture rooms and accommodations prior to shabbos.

Fyi, when I asked about attending a work related conference, I was told I cannot attend. The medical conference was a heter as it would be the best way to gather information that I would otherwise not have access to.

OP, can I ask what medical conference this is?
My child also has a rare medical condition and I wanted to go to a particular conference but didn't bec it's over shabbos. There's another one coming up, maybe I'll ask a shaila about going.
