I am looking for a therapist for my child, and I recently saw a listing for a therapist that I know from many years ago as a former neighbor. I think this person would be very qualified to help my child, but is there some unwritten rule about using a therapist that at one point you knew socially? I don't feel uncomfortable about it, but wouldn't want a sub-par situation if we are better off with someone we don't know.
The issues we are looking to deal with are along the lines of self esteem and anxiety.

No rule at all. I’ve done it.
