I actually think Ahuva is pretty modern. It’s the modernized version of Lieba

It's not modern in Israel. It's old-fashioned.
Ahava is modern and hip though.
I don't think Chaviva is modern in Israel either, but I might just have that impression because the only person I know with that name is over 80.
Similar sounding name could be Avia.

Thanks. That's what I meant. Sorry I wasn't clear. I know in israel it's very old fashioned and I wanted to know what they use now in place.
I haven't really heard Ahava in Israel much either and I'm not crazy about the ah-ah-ah sound all in a row.
Is there another modern Israeli name that is used that means love?

You can give Ahuva and call her Huva or Huvi. Or you can go back to the original source of Liba and call her Libi.
Ahava sounds like cream. Idk. I think Ahuva is beautiful. Although I would probably give Liba faster as I am Chasidish. Very Happy Very Happy

A lot of people believe that the true root of the name "Miriam" is Egyptian, derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love." I prefer that to the alternate origin theory that it means "bitterness." Miri is a great modern form and, even though it isn't modern, I adore the Yiddish form (Mirele) and hope it makes a comeback!

Ahuva definitely sounds like an old lady name in Israel.

Ahava sounds young, but also sounds kinda secular but would be fine with MO.

To me the name Chaviva does not sound like an old lady name, I've known one in her 30s and one about age 6, both were English speakers.

Ahuviya is a very rare man's name. Ahuvi is rare and I think is unisex.

Libi is young sounding.

Ruchama is also old fashioned, but another option.

Ra'aya, the name for the 'beloved' in Shir Hashirim.
Or Yakira.
Or Reut-not quite love, but rather friendship and companionship.

Thanks for the ideas, guys.
I'm really looking to name after the idea of ahavat yisrael and unconditional love (think the story of the two brothers on har habayit).

Any other ideas?
Prefer modern Israeli

I know an Ahavya. I think it's a beautiful name with a beautiful meaning, and it's too unusual to be old fashioned.
