I could ask my local sheitel macher but I am too embarrassed as we are friends. I am going to Lakewood soon anyway to do some shopping so I was wondering if anyone knows any sheitel machers or hairstylists who will dye my hair in a private room?
I tried doing it myself with one of those kits but it is really uneven and just turned my hair a light reddish.

Can you call around any random salon and ask if they have a back room they could do it in? Not even necessarily a Jewish place. I live (very) out of town, no Jewish salons, and this is what I do when I need a haircut.

Bump. Thanks for the suggestion Kiwi but I'd rather not take of the risk of a man seeing my uncovered hair if I can avoid it.

I know it's your preference but if you need to, according to my very RW ultra orthodox Rabbi, it's okay if non Jewish men see uncovered hair.

Right, that's the whole point. You find a salon with a private back room and request a female colorist. Before I go I explain to them that for religious reasons I can't be seen by men with my hair uncovered. I've never had a problem with it. Some salons can accommodate, some can't, but they tell me upfront.

Yes, and Dalia is very professional. She's actually off the parking lot in back of Second, that is, between Second and Third, between Clifton and Lexington.
