Looking for a lightweight coat

So, as I was saying, we lost our coats and I am not holding out much hope of them coming back. I have my very warm puffy long winter coat, but I lost my nice lightweight coat that was perfect for weather like today's in NY - 40s-50? Not freezing cold but definitely needs more than a sweater. I want to treat myself to a new one because it was a really good thing to have. But I am a horrible shopper so I need help!

Looking for something stylish enough to look good, but classic enough to still look good when I don't buy myself another new coat for 10 years.

I like a hood because I hate wind in my ears, and these in-between-weather kind of days can get gusty sometimes. Also, rain happens.

Because rain happens, I'd like something that can hold up to some rain. Doesn't need to be heavy-duty waterproof because then it would probably be too warm and stuffy to be my light coat, and this is what umbrellas are for, but for example the one I borrowed for now is puffy and warm but when it suddenly started raining it soaked right through. Not so nice.

I'd like to stay within $100 (I checked out Land's End as a starting point and it does look like that could be a reasonable target, after sales and/or coupons. Don't know about their styles and selection, though...)

Any suggestions or style tips?
