Can't swear it's because of the batteries but I'm taking a guess. I took out a toy from the closet that I haven't used for a few years (?). Dead. Opened it up, the batteries had leaked, unsurprisingly. I dumped them out and shook out the crusty stuff, and it came off very cleanly. It was mostly at the place where the two batteries touched - it was the kind with two batteries in a row. There doesn't seem to be any residue on any of the contacts. But I tried a couple of pairs of new batteries (which worked in an identical toy) and it's still not working. Any ideas of anything I can try to revive it or is it just a dead toy? It's one of my favorite learning toys Sad

Try to clean the connection points very well and get out the crusty stuff. It might work.

Use vinegar to clean the contacts. Chances are you have to throw it away.
Leaky batteries is the top killer of baby toys and baby gear like expensive swings. Exploding anger
Next time store it without batteries.

take q-tips and clean with alcohol. This is what happened to one of my keyboards. An electrical engineer told me to do this. And it worked when I put in new batteries.

No luck with the alcohol Sad
I know you're not *supposed* to store with batteries, but I didn't mean to store it. I just used it occasionally and then *happened* to not use it...for a few years straight.
