We are going to Europe and will be in Frankfurt for a day +. We decided to stop there a) because the tickets were much cheaper and b) my grandparents were born there.

I read the other couple of threads about Frankfurt, but they were very outdated.

Has anyone been recently and have any advice about travel there? Thanks

I've gone to Sohar's (Glatt kosher) or done take-out whenever I've been in Frankfurt. It's not cheap (by north American standards) and the food is fairly simple, but it's a hot, kosher meal! Call ahead to make sure they have choice..... (I order a few meals in advance and take with me to more rural areas....).

The area around the train station is horrible, avoid as much as possible. If is
t is nice weather, take a walk along the river. Visit the old town. Go to the home of Goethe (no need to enter though). Visit the Jewish cemetery. Go up a skyscraper and enjoy the view (cannot remember which one has a platform for tourists, but just ask the tourist information). It should be easy to get around with public transport.

I think the kosher restaurant had to close, but I am not sure. There is a supermarket with a kosher aisle, I think somewhere close to the synagogue. They have a Minyan every day at least for Shacharit.

This is the web page of the Jewish community (German only, I'm afraid, but try with Google translate): http://www.jg-ffm.de/de/home
