We are about to officially start our house search. The first step is preapproval. We got the name of a mortgage lender who a friend was happy with. We are doing a typical 20 percent down 30yr loan. Does it really matter if we use a broker or a lender and will the products vary widely or is everyone really offering the same thing and the difference is just in the service like how fast they respond to you etc. also I see penfed has very low rates for home loans...anyone do a loan through a credit union..
