How many days after your child had his tonsils and adenoids removed, did you send him back to school? How old was your child at the time?

My DS was 5 when his tonsils and adenoids were removed. I kept him home for a week. Thats how long the dr said he needs to eat soft food. I couldnt put his teacher in the position of watching him like a hawk.
DS was fine right away. I stocked up on ice cream, ices and jello.

DD, age 6. We did it over the summer.
Within 24 hours she was asking for corn chips. I called the doctor, and he said that they don't worry about soft food anymore. Let her eat whatever she wants.
36 hours later, she was refusing all pain medication, and insisted she was fine. She wanted to go out and play with her friends.
I had to basically sit on her and bribe her with videos in order to force her to rest!
