Just did a huge clean out of grown kids' stuff and am left with dozens of t-shirts and sweatshirts with school, camp, & trip logos. It seems weird to donate to Goodwill shirts with names of Jewish camps and schools, but they are perfectly good shirts, most hardly worn. Any ideas what to do with them?

I’ve offered mine to cleaning ladies and they often take me up on it! Sometime they use them to clean in (why waste a nicer shirt), and sometimes they pass on to others they know who need.

do you live in an area with a clothing gmach? Of a Jewish Child and family services type organization?

the shirts thats don't reference specific trips may be of interest to current students/campers.

T-shirt quilts are a great way for you to commemorate your kids' activities especially when they hit 18 and enter their next phase of life or even for their bas/bat mitzvah 12/13 (but they will probably still get more between those years). T shirts are already soft after being washed and worn a lot. If the kiddo is going away for school, it's a visual reminder of home without causing homesickness.

There is an incredible amount of time and labor in these quilts so they are not cheap if you go with a reputable quilter.

You can ask the day camps if they have any campers in need who can't pay for the camp shirts and you can donate directly to them.
