Ds, almost 3 loves babies that he hugs them too tight till they cry. He wants to play with them but doesn't know how so ends up pushing them down...

Any tips how I can teach him?

Show him. Tell him to do nicely.

Take his hand, and have him gently touch a stuffed animal. Show him how hard he can press down, and say "gentle hands, gentle hands". You'll need to keep reminding him when he squeezes other children, but eventually he will get it.

This is also super important if he is ever around other people's pets, because it can prevent him from getting bitten or scratched. Show him how to pet on the side of the animal, not around the face, and not to pull on ears or tails.

Gentle hands is one of the key skills for getting along with others in preschool, too.
