Dearest creative Imas,
I need help coming up with a baby girl name. I like unique names, but my husband only likes Tanachi names. Can you help me come up w/ a list to satisfy both categories? Nothing too "out-there" for my classic-name loving husband (even if tanachi...think Noa), but something more unique than Sarah. We're in an American, charedi community. Anonymous b/c I haven't told family what I'm having yet & they might be on this site

We have a Tirtza. It's common and known enough to pass but uncommon enough that you usually won't have another in her class or more than a few in the community.

What about a traditional tanachi name with a unique nickname? Devora could be Devi, for example.

Shifra.
Naama - wife of Noach.
Efrat - I think another name for Miriam.
Yisca - another name for Sarah.
Osnat.
Achinoam - wife of David hamelech? not sure.

I think Aviya in tanach is a male name. One of the kings of Yehuda.
Although nowadays in Israel, used more for girls.

True, though Aviya also appears in Divrei Hayamim as the mother of Chizkiyahu HaMelech.
