New class for prospective and newer homeschooling parents

Creating a Wholehearted Jewish Homeschool: A Jewish Homeschool Support group based on the work of Dr. Brene Brown for parents actively preparing to homeschool and newer homeschooling parents. Yael Aldrich, homeschooling mother of eleven years, moderator of the largest Jewish homeschool online support group, Jewish, Orthodox, and Homeschooling on YahooGroups, and coordinator of the last three Torah Home Education conferences, will conduct the sessions.

There will be ten sessions, lasting about 1.5 hours each month. Each session will highlight one of the guideposts for wholehearted living and homeschooling, practical applications and learning strategies to use at home, and time to discuss the topic with group members.

This course is guided by Dr. Brene Brown's book Rising Strong. Dr Brene Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston who studies shame, courage, and vulnerability. Her work examines how living a brave life through vulnerability, authenticity, and being curious about uncomfortable emotions like shame bring joy and creativity to one's life. Her books, I Thought It Was Just Me, The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, and Braving the Wilderness delve into people and their desire to be truly seen as worthy of love and support by others and learning to be curious about tough emotions that pull people apart and shut down attachments crucial to healthy human existence.
