Ds loves it, but it has food coloring, so I really don't like to make it for him. Does anyone have a recipe comes really close? TIA!

I cook up a box of pasta, drain. Then put back in pot on flame. add about 1/2 - 1 cup milk and 3-4 tbs butter. Add a bunch of shredded cheese ( I use the white and orange mix). Stir until melted well. Add a bit of salt.
My kids love it

I do similar to ice coffee above.
Mac ‘n Cheese (Kosher by Design Kids in the Kitchen)
• 2 cups raw macaroni + 2 tsp salt (or 4 cups cooked)
• 2 slices American cheese
• 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
• 1/2 cup whole milk
• 1 Tbsp butter
Cook pasta with salt until al dente.
Drain very well.
Heat American cheese, cheddar cheese, milk and butter over medium flame until creamy.
Add drained pasta and toss to coat.

I also do something similar.
I thicken the sauce with a little flour.
You can buy pasta in different shapes. Experiment with different cheeses, and with whether or not to add salt, and how much.
