For the first time, we are dropping off our kids at my parents, and going on vacation for 5 days!

We'll be staying in a hotel in Queens where we have points, and in Lakewood for Shabbos.

What kinds of indoor/outdoor activities would you suggest anywhere in the area?

I need to plan activities as DH gets edgy when there's nothing to do - he isn't great at relaxing.

Walk the Highline, Gulliver's Gate, walk the Brooklyn Bridge, Governor's Island with bike rentals, maybe rent jetskis for an hour or ride the Beast, top of the Freedom Tower or Rockefeller Center for sunset, kosher restaurants everywhere.

You can book a time slot for an escape room. There is one in Manhattan and there is one near Lakewood. It's indoors. About an hour.

I loved going to the MET in the upper east side. Only went to see the Egypt rooms and the armory (medieval armor). Did not do any other rooms. You have to be careful otherwise you end up in Renaissance and nude art. We looked at map carefully and avoided any problematic areas. The two rooms we saw (about two hours) were amazing.

If the Mets are home you can catch a game.

Do you like museums? There is every type of museum in Manhattan.

Take a circle line cruise, take the ferry to Ellis island and/orr the statue of liberty.

Tour the intrepid.

What are your interests? There are so many things to do.

OP here, Thank you!

We are so busy with work and kids that we don't know what our interests are!! All these suggestions look great!

I think we'd leave our car at the hotel in Queens and take an Uber into NYC.

I don't know what your budget is but taking an uber into Manhattan can be really expensive because of the traffic.

Finding parking in Manhattan can be really expensive too.
OP may want to use the train.

I agree but I know that train service in queens is not as good as in Brooklyn.

Look into the LIRR. Goes from Jamaica to Penn station.
