I think I am a fun great mom. I learn many great ideas from friends.
Seeking ideas on how to NIP a new whiner.
Usually I would say wouldn;t it be great if you you used your nice voice, which usually alwys helps............
other ideas welcome

I would let your child know that from here on out you will no longer hear any whining. If he whines, ignore him. When he finally says what he has to in a normal voice, smile, acknowledge what he wants, compliment his big boy voice and shower him with love and attention. I think this sends a clear message.

I found refusing to listen to them and give them whatever they're whining about works.
As soon as I hear the whining tone in their voice I stop them and say "I don't understand you when you whine. Please ask in a nice manner."
And no, just because they ask in a nicer manner doesn't mean they get what they want.

I explained to my kids that just like I don't understand spanish, I don't understand what they say when they whine.

when my child whines, or screams, I completely IGNORE them.
I just turn off. I HATE it.
when they are quiet I ask them to speak softly and nicely.
