I often have leftovers that cannot be simply spilled down the sink, such as cholent, juice from the chicken (with large bits in it...) etc.
until now, I've been using shopping bags that I save from my grocery trips. Now that New Jersey is thinking of taxing them, I've been thinking of the waste I cause.
What's another clean, mess free way to dispose of leftovers?

Flush it down the toilet . That's what I do with all liquidy waste.
You can dilute the cholent with water if it's too thick.

Ok... I'm not doing that. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, though, thunderstorm.

My husb have stuffed up the toilet doing that more times than I can remember. Then you need to snake it...

VERY EXPENSIVE

Where I live you can put food waste in the compost bin.

liquids go down my sink. The drain cover catches the 'bits' which I scoop out and throw (together will all of my other food items) into something like this.

Pour out liquids into disposal; compost the rest.

I specified liquid waste only. I've been doing it for 18 years never had a problem.

Garbage disposal in the sink! Best add-on ever. Just be sure to get a good one and follow the manufacturer’s instructions on what you can and can’t put in it.

Nearly 40. Never heard of anyone doing this. I guess this is one of those imamother moments for me.

Fatty liquids and solids go into a plastic bag, tied and into the garbage. Non-fatty liquids into the drain.

Ziplocs. Everything goes in a ziploc and then it goes into the garbage.

I save used ziploc bags that aren't too gross but are too yucky to reuse for anything good for this purpose. Even liquid can be thrown out this way. Used frying oil that should never be put down drain or toilet, moldy leftovers, etc...

Oh how I wish we had composting in my area!

I do the strain and dump method. I have a special strainer set aside for yucky stuff, so I strain it over the toilet, and then double bag the solids.

If the leftovers are meat, I take them to the empty lot behind my apartment, and leave them for the feral cats. (Shhhh, don't tell anyone!)

Because I'm on an extra frugal budget these days, my best strategy is to plan ahead and freeze extras, either to be reheated later, or repurposed into a new meal. I work hard to cook, and I hate wasting good food.

My MIL gives almost everything to the cats.
We had rodents and gave EVERYTHING except alcoolic stuff lol.
Now, we try not to throw away, but sometimes, sadly...

I refuse to compost any meat since the horrible worms all over my compost bin incident. We throw it down the insinkerator. Can't remember what I did before we had that...liquid down the sink and everything else in regular bin?

Some people freeze leftover chicken carcasses and make soup with it.

I drain the food in the sink and throw the rest in the garbage. Oily liquids I save empty pickle jars and other jars and spill it in the jar close it and put it in the garbage. The oily liquid shouldn’t go in the sink because it clogs it.
